Tribute to Damien Hirst Created for "Pigfest" auction to benefit Berks Community Television (www.bctv.org). This light-hearted take on the artist Damien Hirst's work with cows is a ceramic piggy-bank divided into four cross-sections and encased in vitrines of 1/4 inch glass and aluminum. This "interpretation" allows the viewer to see the money inside the piggy-bank with no obvious method of getting the coins out. The exterior of the pig has been decoupaged with art school and art career "how to" book advertisements then painted an appropriate piggy pink color. Fifty artists were selected to decorate/modify simple ceramic piggy banks For this auction on the 11th of October on live television. Proceeds from the auction benefit non-profit public access tv in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Advance bids should be directed to www.BCTV.org Video of "Tribute to Damien Hirst" |
